News Context

The Sundarbans Tiger Reserve (STR) has become India's second-largest tiger reserve following the approval of its area expansion by the National Board of Wildlife (NBWL). It now ranks just behind the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve in Andhra Pradesh in terms of size.
 Location: Situated in the coastal districts of West Bengal.

 It is the only mangrove forest shared with Bangladesh that supports a significant population of tigers. The reserve is bordered by Bangladesh to the east, the Bay of Bengal to the south, the River Matla to the west, and the Rivers Bidya and Gomdi to the northwest.
