News Context
The leopard population in the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) has increased by 198.91% since 2022. This reserve is located in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, along the Indo-Nepal Border, and includes Dudhwa National Park, Katerniaghat, and Kishanpur. The area is characterized by a typical Tarai-Bhabar habitat of the upper Gangetic plains and is part of a bio-geographic province with a vast alluvial plain. The region is traversed by rivers such as the Mohana, Suheli, Joraha, and Nagro. The fauna in this area includes species like the Tiger, Leopard, Rhinoceros, Swamp Deer, Elephant, Sambar, Hog deer, and Sloth Bear.
