Long-wavelength ocean waves that travel significant distances from their point of origin.
 • Primarily produced by windstorms or strong air currents.
 • Mostly remain unaffected by local winds and are frequently undetected by satellites because of their low frequency and absence of surface whitecaps.
 • Known as Kallakkadal waves in India, a term officially recognized for scientific purposes by UNESCO.
